OneSource Virtual is throwing another showstopper of a soiree at this year’s Workday Rising. On the evening of Tuesday, September 27, attendees of OSV’s Amped party will enjoy a toe-tapping, shack-shaking performance by legendary blues-rock trio ZZ Top at the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago.
Among the thousands expected to attend are the two winners of OneSource Virtual's Amped Up employee contest. The winners, Alice Copeland and Sri Anne, correctly answered a series of questions that demonstrated their deep knowledge of OneSource Virtual’s services and company history. In the final round of the contest, they emerged victorious based on the popularity of homemade videos displaying their insane air guitar shredding skills.
With Amped just around the corner, we sat down with our two contest winners to learn a little about them and what they're most looking forward to at Amped.
Originally from Silsbee, Texas, Alice is a systems analyst for Professional Services. Before joining OneSource Virtual in November 2014, Alice worked for Progressive Insurance for 20 years, and spent two years as a mortgage loan officer.
When it was time to make her air guitar video for Amped Up's final round, she enlisted some help from someone very special to her—her dog, Bella.
"People like dogs," she said, noting that this isn’t the first time she’s used a canine family member for a company contest. "My husband always says I use the dogs for everything. When I was with Progressive, they had a contest to be in a Progressive commercial, and I made a video with our dogs."
When asked what she's most looking forward to about Amped, more than anything else, it's the concert. "I grew up in the seventies, so I listened to [ZZ Top] in high school and college."
Alice was supposed to see them play in Frisco over Memorial Day weekend earlier this year. They were scheduled to appear with Jimmy Buffett. "But then a week before the concert, they cancelled," she explained. "When I saw this contest, I thought, maybe I'll get to see them after all."
Sri is originally from Hyderabad, India. As a business analyst with OneSource Virtual since March 2016, he works with IT and OSV’s teams to improve company processes and products. “Any improvements that need to happen, we design to make it happen,” he said.
Before joining OneSource Virtual, he was a senior business analyst with Accolite. With his keen interest in solving current and future business problems, he's also earned two master's degrees from UT Dallas, one in IT and management, and another in innovation and entrepreneurship.
For Sri's air guitar video, his goal was simple. "I just wanted to bring out my personality, which is high energy."
While Sri is eagerly looking forward to seeing ZZ Top blow the roof off the Ari Crown Theater, he's equally excited about meeting new people and soaking up the equally high-energy atmosphere.
When he's not helping OneSource Virtual improve its products and processes, Sri enjoys traveling. “I travel very spontaneously,” he said. “I really like nature. It makes me feel at home—Yellowstone, Oregon. Camping in Montana is amazing.”
