As the financial climate of the nation continues to mandate economical use of our resources, many companies are finding the ability to create and implement human resource solutions to go beyond the abilities of a traditional in-house HR department. Some companies have found that outsourcing HR tasks is a logical way of improving company efficiency and cutting costs, while still handling employees’ needs in a professional manner. Businesses that choose to maintain an HR department are learning that the right HR software can lessen the difficulty of managing human resources significantly.
The hiring process is one of the most important aspects of any business. Wading through applicants in order to find the right person for an open position is time-consuming, and keeping reliable records of the existing talent pool is complicated as well as labor intensive; because of this, keeping HR costs low can be difficult. Additionally, your human resource staff should be focusing on training and nurturing staff in order to promote employee growth and retention, not spending time bogged down in minutia.
Most time spent on HR tasks can be dramatically reduced using human resources software. Recruitment software can bring in applicants, and narrow the field to viable candidates to be interviewed, thus saving precious staff hours. In addition, modern HR software is customizable, able to perform many tasks that have traditionally been a drain on resources, while enhancing communication and maintaining a database of valuable information.
Outsourcing the company’s HR needs can be an even better strategy for many businesses. Offsite human resource solutions can provide knowledge and technology that can help your business thrive. Well versed in current regulations and tax law, outsourcing organizations provide professional assistance that gives you the leeway to allocate your resources toward running your business rather than focusing on HR concerns.

The 32nd Annual APA Congress is a wrap, and OneSource Virtual is excited to have been a part of yet another successful event. We were able to speak to hundreds of payroll professionals about the innovative solutions provided by OneSource Virtual, and demonstrate how our cloud-based delivery on the Workday unified platform lessens risk while reducing cost and administrative burdens. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth. It was a pleasure to meet and talk with you.
Payroll Man of the Year
However, the most exciting news of the APA Expo was our very own Tommy Windsor receiving the Payroll Man of the Year Award. With more than 2000 members in attendance, the APA recognized Tommy for this exceptional achievement and we couldn’t be prouder.
The APA refers to its membership as its lifeblood. Member volunteers, their efforts, and the hours each devotes to the organization contribute to its progress, as well as to the advancement of fellow AP professionals. Each year the APA awards it’s most prestigious honor to a national member who dedicates his or her time serving on committees and task forces.
Tommy, a Payroll Tax Specialist at OneSource Virtual since December 2009, is well-known as the go-to for all things tax and payroll related for OSV. He’s earned recognition from both the Dallas and Texas APA chapters for Meritous Service in previous years. Tommy earned this year’s APA Man of the Year award through 20 years of continued commitment and service to the APA. Tommy is now an example of loyalty, knowledge and generosity to more than 21,000 members of the APA. What an incredible accomplishment!

Are You Ready for the 2105 APA Congress?
We are! A big thank you goes from OneSource Virtual to the 2014 APA Congress planning committee for a great event. Tommy will have the distinguished honor of delivering a speech at the 2015 APA Congress in Las Vegas. We look forward to hearing Tommy’s address and to exhibiting again next year.
