National Payroll Week is an opportunity for us to say thank you to the hardworking payroll professionals who support our organizations and employees. Folks who definitely don’t get as much recognition as they deserve. Every week, every other week or every bi-weekly payroll week that goes by unnoticed is a win. That’s because payroll work tends to be the kind where no news is good news, or you only hear IF there is a problem. So when it’s quiet, it means things are going well. But because of this, it may be a little too easy to lose sight of the enormousness of the responsibly. After all, it isn’t just a file of payroll contributions and deductions running through the system. It’s someone’s rent, their groceries, their financial obligations.
What is National Payroll Week or Payroll Appreciation Week?
According to the National Payroll Week website, National Payroll Week celebrates the hard work by America's 150 million wage earners and the payroll professionals who pay them. Together, through the payroll withholding system, they contribute, collect, report and deposit approximately $2.2 trillion, or 67%, of the annual revenue of the U.S. Treasury.
The first National Payroll Week was held in 1996, and each year it coincides with Labor Day. That’s no accident. It seeks to celebrate the unique partnership between workers, companies, payroll professionals as well as critical government programs such as social security and child support. It also commemorates the economic, social and cultural achievements of workers. The American Payroll Association local chapters and members host presentations and participate in community service initiatives. It’s part of a broader campaign to help workers understand more about their paychecks, the payroll withholding system and other payroll-driven benefits.
Thank You Payroll Professionals
We would like to thank the Payroll team at OneSource Virtual. Not only do you provide exceptional service for customers, but to our own organization.
“We’d like to thank the Payroll professionals at OneSource Virtual on behalf of our customers and employees. Our team works behind the scenes as silent and invisible participants in the payroll, garnishment and payroll tax process, supporting our customers’ employees to make sure that their obligations are upheld. The team works incredible hours to ensure the timeliness and accuracy expectations are always met. For this, we are continuously grateful.”
– Michael Roseman, Sr. VP of Customer Operations
“Payroll is very complex behind the scenes. People know they receive a paycheck, but aren’t always aware of the long hours and hard work it takes to produce that paycheck. Nor are they aware of the multiple disciplines and expertise needed to ensure it’s always accurate and on time, including Garnishments and Payroll Tax. We want to recognize that, and our people, for their constant dedication.”
–Gaye Krisantz, Sr. Director Payroll Services
OneSource Virtual appreciates your work on our behalf, we appreciate your expertise, your dedication, your service and your willingness to continually, obsessively deliver great work. We are thrilled to stand with the APA, giving the payroll profession the attention it so richly deserves.
