More Businesses Look to Robotics for Managing Repetitive Employee Resource Needs
According to a new OneSource Virtual Survey, HCM, Payroll and Benefits Activities are Top 3 Choices for Robotics among Workday Rising Attendees
Dallas, TX – Nov. 6, 2018 – OneSource Virtual (OSV) , a leading Business Process as a Service (BPaaS) and professional services provider, today announced the results of a new pulse survey conducted during Workday Rising 2018. The survey, coordinated in conjunction with OSV’s public launch of the world’s first robotic process-as-a-service (RPaaS) capability for human resources and finance, shows a clear ranked preference among human resource and finance professionals for the use of robotics for repetitive tasks associated with people resource management.
Respondents attending Workday’s annual conference were asked a single critical question: “If you could hire robots to automate repeatable functions for you, what would you like them to do first?” Ten possible answer choices covered repetitive business process areas in financials, human resources and in technology management. Of the 226 selections made by respondents for top preferences:
- More than 65 percent of the selections were focused on employee resource needs
- Four options outpaced the other six options statistically by almost a 2-to-1 margin: Human Capital Management (onboarding, offboarding, employee data changes) ranked first (56 percent); payroll (check replacements/reversals, payroll inputs, register total audits) was second (51 percent); benefit management (reconciliation audit, employee document mailing, leave of absence) ranked third (38 percent); and recruiting (interview scheduling, reference call questionnaires, job requisition creation) was selected fourth (35 percent).
- Other financial and technology-oriented survey options, such as handling of accounts receivables, fixed asset management, journal entries and IT release uptakes and maintenance, were significant statistical outliers for “what to do first” and were selected below 20 percent.
“Clearly, this survey reinforces that companies are choosing to focus their priorities and attentions on their all-important people resources,” said Trey Campbell, CEO of OSV. “Digital transformation is taking many forms in the business workplace, but consistently we see – and are advocating for – the emergence of technologies that free workers to make more essential contributions to the workplace. Moving key people resources from repetitive tasks with little variance in routine handling, to areas better suited to their strategic and other capabilities, can clearly contribute to creating a more satisfying and productive work environment.”
Incorporating robotics for handling repetitive business processes is OSV’s newest answer to digitally transforming companies into a modern workplace. A pioneer in business process automation, OSV has taken a leadership role in providing automation industry “firsts” for more than 10 years. Its new RPaaS capability will be available in early 2019, providing a digital workforce to help organizations more efficiently navigate a wide variety of business issues in human resources and finance departments.
